Bible Study Groups

Fellowship Groups

BibleIn a large church such as Duke Street it is often difficult to get to know those around you.  Fellowship Groups are the primary place where you are known and cared for.

Within the small communities that Fellowship Groups provide, we can build personal relationships and practice applying the gospel to our lives. Groups are encouraged to be evangelistic and organize events for their non-Christian friends.

Composed of approximately six to twelve people, groups meet fortnightly in homes throughout the area on various days of the week.  They are led by members from the congregation who receive oversight and support from our pastoral staff.

Meetings include time for worship, bible study, fellowship and prayer.

Mum's the Word

Mum’s the Word is a fantastic opportunity to put distractions aside and spend time in the Word while wonderful crèche helpers look after your children.

Each term we work through a study guide focusing on a specific book of the Bible, biblical issues related to women, or areas where we feel the group would benefit from learning more, for example: prayer.

Mums the word has been a great place on getting my focus back onto the important stuff. The study of 1 John has been a reminder I am God’s child and so is my little one – and He is our sole provider.

Each Mum aims to prepare for the lesson beforehand and then the leader guides the morning session.

Ladies’ Bible Study (Wed AM)

The Wednesday ladies’ Bible study is a lively group of ladies from all ages and backgrounds meeting fortnightly to study the Bible.

The group’s aim is to encourage one other to dig into the scriptures on a regular basis so learning more about God and getting to know Him better.

Members of the group are committed to preparing for each week’s discussion using workbooks and questions so as to be ready to discover what God is teaching them and then apply it to their lives.

It sounds like hard work, but the meetings are far from boring and there is much animated discussion as we learn from the Scriptures – and from each other!

In-depth personal Bible study is a vital part of an active Christian life and this group exists to encourage and equip members to move on from being spoon-fed to enjoying the challenge of studying the Word of God for themselves.
